This is the next step after the Open Water Diver course and is designed to make you a competent diver in a range of situations and permit you to dive to greater depths.
As a certified Open Water Diver, you will already have discovered the fun of diving and will want to expand your capabilities. This course does that and more, increasing your experience, developing your underwater skills and giving you a taste of Specialty diving activities.
Your course will concentrate on growth of your “basic” skills such as buoyancy, navigation and equipment configuration.
You can complete the Advanced Open Water course as quickly as over one weekend with practical diving activities, rather than classroom based presentations being the focus of the course. Having completed the Knowledge Reviews contained within your Advanced Open Water Diver manual, these will be reviewed and corrected as appropriate by your instructor.
Your instructor will then take you through a dive briefing before you go for your two ‘core’ dives, comprising a navigation dive to expand on your underwater navigation skills, and a deep dive where you will learn about planning, and then executing, your first deep dive. After you have completed these two dives, you will be able to select a further three adventure dives from a list that includes night dives, boat dives, wreck dives and many more.
Your course fee includes your manual, qualification certificate and recognition emblem but does not include the hire of scuba equipment, which can be bought or hired from our fully-stocked dive shop at preferential rates.
First time customers completing this course with us will also qualify for one year’s free membership of the AquaStars All-Stars Dive Club. Please see the relevant section of the site for more details.
