This is the basic level of diver qualification, allowing you to dive to a depth of 18metres under appropriate conditions. The course normally runs over five days or three weekends to suit you. The course normally consists of three sections:
Section One
Classroom sessions. After receiving your PADI Crew Pack, you will be expected to read your Open Water Diver manual and complete the Knowledge Reviews within it. Your PADI instructor will elaborate in the classroom on the knowledge you have gained by reading your manual and watching the Open Water Diver DVD.
This section of the course can be done as self-study, cutting the course time to only three days but you must be able to pass all four final exams before progressing to Section Two.
Section Two
Pool sessions. In the confined water or pool sessions you will take your first memorable breath underwater, and learn diving skills demonstrated to you first by your highly qualified and experienced PADI instructor.
Section Three
Four open water dives. During these four dives you will put into practice what you have learnt in the classroom and confined water training. At the end of each dive you will be taken on a tour of the strange, fascinating and beautiful underwater world.
During your course, you will receive a Diving Logbook starter pack and you will be presented with a PADI Certificate when you complete your course. Your diving qualification is recognised worldwide and enables you to buy diving equipment, fill your bottles for diving, and, dive anywhere in the world with a buddy or as part of a group. It also enables you to take part in PADI further education courses and other activities.
Completion of this course will also give you one year’s free membership of the AquaStars All-Stars Dive Club, with a range of benefits to enhance your future diving. Please see the relevant section of the site for more details.
